Autopsy: KSU student died from allergic reaction
An autopsy determined that a Kennesaw State University student died from an allergic reaction, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday.
Tyler Cody Davis, 20, of Marietta, died Aug. 18 after eating at the campus dining hall. Davis appeared to be suffering a reaction and Cobb County emergency responders arrived on campus to treat the third-year student, who was pronounced dead after being transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.
"Davis ate at The Commons – Student Culinary Center on Thursday afternoon, and subsequently departed the facility," the university said in statement four days after Davis died. "The student later returned to The Commons in distress, and sought assistance in summoning emergency personnel."
Additional testing was required to determine the cause of death, John Bankhead, GBI spokesman, told the AJC. Those results indicated David died from anaphylaxis, Bankhead said Tuesday.
