Authorities searching for man missing near Lake Lanier
Department of Natural Resources rangers were searching for a man who went missing near Lake Lanier Sunday, authorities say.
Mark McKinnon, a spokesman for DNR, said Jerry Kornmeier, 57, was last known to be in the Cocktail Cove area, where authorities found his boat.
“We found his boat adrift in open water out from Cocktail Cove last night,” McKinnon said shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday. “We are not sure if he is in the water or not so we are searching the cove as well as the surrounding areas.”
This is the second time in less than a week that a man went missing in the area. Authorities confirmed a body recovered Thursday from Lake Lanier is a missing firefighter, Hall County authorities said.
In early April, a group of fishermen found a badly decomposed body that turned out to be, Estelle Kouassi, a missing teen from Winder, who had previously gone missing.
