Authorities ID Atlanta woman's body found in south Fulton County

Sept 29, 2011

The badly decomposed body found in south Fulton County on Tuesday afternoon has been identified as a missing Atlanta woman, police said.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the deceased is 24-year-old Danelle Shanta Hughes, who was identified through fingerprints and a tattoo, Detective Melissa Parker said Wednesday. The cause of death has not been determined.

Hughes was last seen in the 800 block of Parks Street the night of Sept. 11. She left in a rust-colored vehicle, Atlanta police said. Her family reported her as missing.

Her body was found in the 4900 block of Cascade Road across the street from the Cascade Falls subdivision, where authorities told concerned neighbors that a full investigation is taking place, Channel 2 Action News reports.

Fulton County and Atlanta police are working on the case, Parker said.
