Austell candidates include four for mayor

For Austell mayor, four candidates have qualified for the Nov. 5 general election.

They include:

  • Chris Djonis, a contractor, whose website is Djonis4mayor.com.
  • Mayor Ollie B. Clemons Jr., a retiree, whose website is OllieForAustell.com.
  • Ikaika Anderson, self-employed, whose website is ElectIkaika.com.
  • Cindy D. Thompson, a consultant, whose website is AustellsChoiceIsCindy.com.

Clemons, who was mayor pro tem chosen by Mayor Joe Jerkins, recently was inaugurated as mayor since Jerkins resigned after 30 years of continuous service as both the mayor and the city manager due to ongoing health problems.

With longtime Councilman Scott S. Thomas not running this time, another contested race is for Council, Ward 2:

  • Shontae Brown, a senior budget analyst, whose website is VoteShontaeBrown.com.
  • Devon D. Myrick, a plumber, who does not list a website.

Uncontested races are for incumbents:

  • Valerie Anderson for Council, At Large, Post 2, whose email is Valerie4austell@gmail.com.
  • Sandra S. Leverette for Council, Ward 4, whose email is SLeverette@AustellGa.gov.
