Atlantans reach for gnome world record in Inman Park

Atlantans will try again this month to assemble the biggest gathering of people dressed as garden gnomes that the world has ever seen.

The gnome march, a "silly" event, according to organizers, has become a tradition within the similarly goofy Inman Park Festival Parade.

Last year, 239 grownups and children donned pointy red hats and other homemade gnome accessories, reaching just short of the Canadian record. Since then, the British have raised the bar to 478. Anyone in gnome gear can start the parade at 1 p.m. on April 28, at the corner of Edgewood Avenue NE and Krog Street NE. Information: www.gratefulgluttons.com.
