Atlanta weather | Storms move through metro area

June 14, 2012

Storms moved through the metro Atlanta area Wednesday night, and more rain is in the forecast for Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning until 3 a.m. for central Fulton and eastern Cobb counties. The flash flood warning lasts until 2:45 a.m. for Clayton County.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and steams, the weather service warned.

Wednesday's slow-moving storm system dumped a lot of rain in the area, Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

Thursday will be humid with scattered strong storms, he said. There is a 40 percent chance of rain. Highs will be in the upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s.

The forecast for Friday and through the weekend includes sunny skies, with highs in the low 80s. Lows will be in the mid 60s.
