A light rain Wednesday evening will herald the arrival of freezing temps in the Atlanta area Friday morning, forecasters say.
Channel 2 Action News meteorologist David Chandley said rain Wednesday evening will be very light, if it happens at all.
"I call them ‘windshield spotters'," said Chandley, adding the rainfall will be so slight it may not even be measurable.
All rain will move out of the area by midnight, said Chandley.
Thursday will be much cooler, with morning temps in the 40s and highs only reaching into the 50s. Thursday will be windy, said Chandley, making it feel even colder.
The real chill comes Friday morning. Intown areas will be just above freezing, but the suburbs will drop into the 20s, said Chandley.
The "urban heat island" effect keeps areas with lots of concrete and roads warmer, said Chandley.
