First things first: Don't forget to turn your clocks back an hour before turning in Saturday night. Most of the U.S. returns to standard time at 2 a.m. Sunday.
Now on to your weekend enjoyment.
Atlanta hasn’t had a rainy weekend in nearly two months and that string of beautiful weather will continue, as nothing but sunshine is forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than normal, with highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 40s.
Normal highs for early November are in the upper 60s, with lows in the upper 40s.
Atlanta’s last significant weekend rain was on Sept. 4, when .24 inch was recorded at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
If you're heading to the mega-showdown between LSU and Alabama Saturday night, you'll enjoy perfect football weather in Tuscaloosa -- clear skies with temperatures in the low 50s at kickoff.
That sunny forecast should set well with the highway resurfacing crews, but not with motorists caught in traffic jams caused by interstate lane closures for the repaving.
Doug Turnbull in the AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB Traffic Center says it might be tough negotiating the I-20/I-285 interchange in DeKalb County this weekend, as the ramp from I-20 westbound to I-285 southbound will be shut down from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and the ramp form I-285 northbound to I-20 westbound will be blocked during those hours on Sunday.
Turnbull suggests using Covington Highway and Wesley Chapel Road to get around the closures.
In south Fulton County, the ramp from I-285 eastbound to I-85 northbound will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. Old National Highway and Camp Creek Parkway are Turnbull’s suggested alternates around that construction zone.
In Clayton County, the ramp from I-75 southbound to I-285 westbound will be blocked all weekend.
Other potential traffic trouble spots include I-85 southbound around Collinsworth Road in south Fulton and I-285 in both directions around Chamblee Tucker Road in DeKalb.
Saturday’s college football games include the Georgia State University-St. Francis game at 2 p.m. at the Georgia Dome, the University of Georgia-New Mexico State game at 12:30 p.m. at Sanford Stadium in Athens and the Clark-Atlanta University-Stillman College game at 1:30 p.m. on the Clark-Atlanta campus.
Other weekend events around town include the Chastain Park Arts Festival, which runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the north Atlanta park.
