A frost advisory has been posted in metro Atlanta for early Friday, as forecasters are predicting the coldest temperatures since last spring.

The advisory, which is in effect from 2 to 10 a.m. Friday, calls for the possibility of frost as far south as the Columbus area.

Low temperatures early Friday should dip into the upper 30s across metro Atlanta and in the low to mid-30s in other parts of north Georgia.

"Budding plants, shrubs and trees will be susceptible to these cold temperatures and may suffer frost damage and could be killed if left unprotected," the National Weather Service warned.

Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said things should warm up during the day, with highs reaching the mid-60s Friday, and the upper 60s and low 70s over the weekend. Overnight lows will dip into the 40s, he said.
