Metro Atlanta's soggy spring continues this week with a chance of showers and thunderstorms every day through Friday.

On Tuesday, expect showers mainly after 2 p.m. under mostly cloudy skies. Chance of rain Tuesday is 80 percent with rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch, the National Weather Service said. The chance of rain is 70 percent on Wednesday, dropping to 50 percent on Thursday and 30 percent Friday.

The daily rain may come to an end on the weekend with partly cloudy skies predicted Saturday and mostly sunny skies forecast Sunday. Highs each day will be in the low 80s with lows in the mid-60s.

The near-daily rain continues to help out Lake Lanier, which was once about 20 feet below normal. Tuesday morning it was about five feet below full summer pool level of 1,071 feet.

It's a far cry from the drought conditions that gripped North Georgia for the past two years. The area has received about 23 inches of rain so far this year, about 1.3 inches above normal.
