The Atlanta Police Department will host the Spring 2015 Citizens Police Academy April 29 - June 10.

The Citizens Police Academy includes more than 30 hours of instruction taught in three-hour sessions. Citizens will learn about various police departments and operations including 911, Internal Affairs and use of force. Citizens will also participate in a Ride-A-Long by zones and watch a K-9 demonstration. Participation requires a commitment of one night a week for an eight week period. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m.

Potential candidates should meet several requirements including:

• Be a resident of the Metropolitan Atlanta area

• Minimum age of 21 years

• No felony convictions

• No misdemeanor convictions within one year of application
