A body that turned up Monday in a west Atlanta apartment has become the subject of a homicide investigation.

Detectives are looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of a male whose body was found at the Magnolia Park Apartments, said officer Kim Jones of the Atlanta Police Department.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office identified the man as Edward Jowers, 64, of Atlanta. While authorities still aren't sure how Jowers died, his death is being treated as a homicide.

The apartments are near Morehouse and Morris Brown colleges and Clark Atlanta University.
