The Atlanta City Council's Community Development/Human Resources committee has scheduled a public hearing Monday evening on several items including a proposal to move a Buckhead cemetery.

The Mt. Olive Cemetery is located at 431 Pharr Rd. City records say it has anywhere from 40 to 120 graves and is one of the last remnants of an African-American community that lived in the area. City records show the applicant wants to move the remains to a perpetual care cemetery.

The city's Urban Design Commission has recommended against moving the cemetery. The City Council must make a final decision on the proposal.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber on the second floor of City Hall, 55 Trinity Ave. S.W.
