Atlanta City Council approves more than $23,000 in claims against city

Atlanta's City Council voted Monday to approve more than $23,000 in claims against the city for bodily injuries from walking into uncovered water meters and property damage from auto accidents and other mishaps. The eight claims included two separate $6,000 settlements related to sewer backups. More than a dozens claims were given "unfavorable" recommendations and rejected, including claims related to burglaries, potholes, a vehicular accident and water service.
