Athens-Clarke County police have arrested a suspect in the Sunday night murder of  an Army soldier, according to news reports.

Cody Lumpkin was captured after a standoff with police at a house in the Stonehenge neighborhood off Atlanta Highway in Bogart, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Police said Lumpkin shot Jeremy Sean Buchanan, 19, of Commerce, and killed him Sunday evening in a building breezeway in the Rolling Ridge neighborhood. Buchanan died Monday at Athens Regional Medical Center when doctors removed him from life support, the newspaper reported. Police have not yet released a motive in the shooting.

The Athens-Banner Herald reported that at about 10:45 a.m., heavily armed officers surrounded the house on Altar Stone Way. A Georgia Bureau of Investigation entry team had arrived with shields and battering rams, and an ambulance waited nearby.
