$1.3M asking price for Buffington School near Canton
The former Buffington Elementary School and its 9.9-acre site east of Canton are listed for sale with an Atlanta real estate firm, at an asking price of $1.3 million.
PHP Commercial is marketing the Cherokee County School District property at 4568 Cumming Highway. Built in 1910, Buffington has a main building, classroom building and gymnasium totaling 25,880 square feet. The buildings are connected by covered walkways and have a circle driveway and paved parking.
"The combination of size, location and access provide a desirable site for residential/commercial development," PHP says in its online listing. "This is a great opportunity for a church, school or, with rezoning, commercial and office use."
Buffington was last used as a school in 2007. Renamed the Buffington Educational Services Center, it housed district offices until last school year, when special education staff moved to the district’s main office in Canton. In July, the Cherokee County School Board declared the property surplus.
