Arrest made in fatal Mall West End shooting

Nearly a month after a College Park man was gunned down outside a Subway restaurant in the Mall West End shopping center in Atlanta, police made an arrest Wednesday in the case.

Raemon Moore, 25, was taken to the Fulton County Jail and charged with murder, according to police spokeswoman Kim Jones. The arrest was made after police investigated a suspicious vehicle with Moore and two other males inside.

Asiel Parker, 21, was shot around 2:30 p.m on July 17 near the Subway on Oak Street in the West End. He was conscious and breathing after being wounded but was pronounced dead after being taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Witnesses told Channel 2 Action news a gunman shot Parker in the chest and then shots spread to inside the southwest Atlanta restaurant.

One witness said he saw men arguing in the mall parking near the restaurant location. Witnesses said they saw the suspected shooter run away from the scene and jump into a gray or silver Pontiac.

The incident follows two recent shootings in the area.

On June 27 in the mall parking lot, Atlanta police shot and killed a man who they said was a fugitive from Mississippi. On May 15, three men were wounded after police said they exchanged gunfire during a computer deal that went awry in the 700 block of Lee Street.
