APS gets $2 million ‘E-rate' victory
Atlanta Public Schools will receive about $2 million in "E-rate" reimbursement money, federal dollars designed to help schools and libraries get Internet access and maintain electronic and telecommunications infrastructure. The reimbursement is a victory for the district, which has been denied the money since an investigation nearly a decade ago revealed APS squandered millions in the program. Superintendent Erroll Davis said he hopes additional reimbursements will come. The district could earn $20 million in reimbursements, he said.
