The Mayor’s Corporate Challenge 5K Run in Alpharetta is expected to affect the evening commute Aug. 24 as nearly 2,000 runners descend on the city’s central business district, closing parts or all of four streets.

From 6:30 to 8 p.m., Haynes Bridge Road between Old Milton Parkway and Academy Street will be closed to all traffic, officials said. Academy will be closed between Westside Parkway and Main Street (Ga. 9). Also, one southbound lane of Westside and one westbound lane of Old Milton will be closed to vehicular traffic

“Motorists are strongly urged to plan alternate travel routes now so they can avoid the impacted area,” according to the city. “Extremely heavy traffic delays are expected to result from the road and lane closures.”

Residents along Academy will be notified of the closures, and the city will place digital signs on the impacted roadways. Information: http://bit.ly/2uE9mtD
