As Alpharetta makes progress on a vision plan for the area around North Point Mall, the city invites the public to the third Community Conversation.

“Now is the time to come together to finalize that vision, identify strategies for achieving it, prioritize public investments, and frame policy changes to achieve the North Point Activity Center of tomorrow,” the city says in an announcement of the meeting. It is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at Alpharetta City Hall.

The “Livable Centers Initiative” is centered on North Point Parkway from Mansell Road to Haynes Bridge Road. The mall opened in 1993 and the area is the city’s primary shopping and dining destination, but it faces new competition. Moreover, its automobile-focused design, with “oceans of parking lots,” is less appealing to consumers, the city said.
