Alpharetta residents will have a way to legally dispose of paints, garden chemicals and other toxic materials when the city conducts a household hazardous waste and paint collection.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Alpharetta Public Works Department, 1790 Hembree Road. The collection is restricted to city residents who sign up in advance, and they must bring their confirmation forms with them to the event. To pre-register: https://bit.ly/2JVw8QT

There is no charge for disposing of acceptable items, including paints and paint-related substances; gasoline, kerosene and automotive fluids; pesticides, herbicides and lawn and garden chemicals; fertilizer; pool and spa chemicals, and items with mercury. Items should be brought unmixed, in original containers, with lids tightened.

Truck and automotive batteries, electronics, fire extinguishers, propane tanks and medical or prescription drugs will not be accepted. Participants are asked to remain in their vehicles during the collection.
