The Alpharetta City Council has awarded a 5-year service contract to a Cumming company to have it continue to light up the North Fulton community for holidays and special events.

Universal Concepts, the city’s current lighting and seasonal décor provider, was the highest-scoring bidder of two companies that sought the contract worth about $95,000 a year, according to a staff report to the council.

The vendor will be responsible for illuminating Alpharetta’s Wire & Wood, a two-day music festival in October, and Season of Celebration, a one-day event in December; and for seasonal décor including Memorial Day week and the winter holidays from mid-November through mid-January.

Universal will work with city staff to design, install, remove, store and maintain city-owned décor as well as newly purchased strands of light, among other duties, staff said.
