A veteran business development leader has been named the new president and chief executive officer of the Alpharetta Chamber of Commerce.

Deborah L. Lanham’s appointment, announced Wednesday after a competitive search by the Alpharetta Chamber’s executive board and effective immediately, follows her nearly eight years with the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce – the last four, as vice president of business development.

There, she promoted diversity and inclusion; achieved record-breaking membership growth; and helped expand programs and services in technology, women in business and young business professionals, according to an Alpharetta Chamber announcement. After leaving the North Fulton Chamber in 2018, Lanham started Sufficient Imagination LLC, a business development consultancy.

“This appointment is truly an unbelievable blessing,” Lanham said. “I’m humbled to now be leading the Alpharetta Chamber of Commerce as it embarks on a historic path of growth and prosperity for our members and businesses that make up this great community.”

Born in Arizona, reared in Michigan, and an Alpharetta area resident the last 22 years, Lanham has served on the Tech Alpharetta Board of Directors, on the United Way of Greater Atlanta North Fulton Advisory Board, and with the North Fulton Mental Health Collaborative. She currently sits on the North Metro Advisory Board of the Technology Association of Georgia.
