DeKalb County’s sewer problems struck again Tuesday, spilling more than 19,950 gallons of raw sewage into Snapfinger Creek.

County officials said the spill was not weather-related, but the result of a grease blockage that caused sewage to overflow from a manhole. The spill occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Mountain Crest Apartments on North Hairston Road in Stone Mountain,

Last month, the federal Environmental Protection Agency issued a consent decree mandating DeKalb improve its water and sewer system after the county reported more than 800 raw sewage spills in the last five years.
