Atlanta police are looking for a man they say raped four women, including three over the past few weeks.

According to Maj. Adam Lee III, the man targeted women with a revolver in the Mechanicsville area, the first of which occurred in January 2016. Police did not provide a possible motive as to why the suspect waited nearly a year between rapes.

Lee said the location, the gun and the description of the suspect led them to think he was connected to the four incidents.

“We do believe, based on the last three incidents, that he is in the area,” Lee said.

Lee refrained from giving details on individual incidents, but said one of them involved a juvenile.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution does not publish the names of victims in sexual assault cases.

According to Channel 2 Action News, the alleged rapist attacked one woman Dec. 27 on the 400 block of Ralph David Abernathy Road just before 8 a.m.

In that case, the woman was exercising when the man forced her into a secluded area with a black revolver and raped her, the news station reported.

Atlanta police released a sketch of who they believe is the attacker. He is believed to be around 5 feet 9 inches tall and weigh between 160 and 180 pounds.

The suspect is described as between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-10 and weighing between 150 and 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The man is believed to be between 25 and 35 years old, police said.

“We just need to get this guy off the street,” Lee said, “because he is armed and dangerous.”
