Cobb and Douglas Public Health (CDPH) opened the Acworth-Kennesaw Public Health Center at 3810 Old 41 Highway NW, Kennesaw on June 28.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by local and state elected officials and community leaders, including Cobb County Commissioner Bob Weatherford, Acworth Mayor Tommy Allegood, Kennesaw Mayor Derek Easterling and Cobb Board of Health Chairman Dr. Carol Holtz.

The new Acworth-Kennesaw Public Health Center will provide improved access and service quality for residents visiting programs such as Women, Infant and Child Nutrition (WIC); Family Planning; Adult Health; International Travel Health and Immunizations, according to a CDPH statement.

This center is the second new public health center opened by Cobb and Douglas Public Health this year, following the recent opening of the Smyrna Public Health Center, 3001 South Cobb Drive, Smyrna.

Primary funding for this $3.3 million building renovation came from the Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) program with additional financial support from the United States Department of Agriculture and State WIC Office, Cobb & Douglas Public Health and the city of Kennesaw.
