The Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau has launched a Web site -- http://atlanta.net/civilrights/index.html -- that showcases the city's civil rights history and legacy. The site features an interactive timeline that spans 147 years of African American life in Atlanta. It begins in 1862 when Atlanta's first African-American property owner sold her lot to purchase her husband's freedom. The site also highlights venues, museums, tours and cultural activities in the city, including the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Auburn Avenue Research Library.
