Stockbridge officials took steps to fix their fractured governing board Wednesday following the dismissal earlier this week of its mayor.

Mark Alarcon was named acting mayor, filling the post left vacant when the council voted Monday to remove Lee Stuart from the job. Councilman Richard Steinberg becomes mayor pro tem and former councilwoman Shirley Dabney will fill Alarcon’s unexpired council seat. The announcement was made at an emergency meeting Wednesday afternoon. Stuart was ousted after the council determined he had violated local and state charter and federal laws through numerous allegations, including monitoring workers’ emails, creating a hostile work environment and disclosing sensitive information about city property and an city officer.
