For most registered voters, the contested races are open only to residents of cities, but there are countywide referendums in DeKalb County and Henry County.

DeKalb will decide a referendum that would restructure the county ethics board. In Henry, the local issues countywide are Sunday brunch alcohol sales and extension of a local sales tax in the form of a SPLOST.

For other metro counties, there are elections for mayors, city council and local elected officials.
