About 57,000 Gwinnett County water customers in the northern area of the county may be affected by the planned replacement of a water main Thursday.

The work will take place on Thursday from 4:30 a.m. to midnight at Buford Highway between Sawnee Avenue and City Hall Street in Rest Haven. It will consist of connecting a new 48-inch water main to the existing line.

Some customers may experience brown water and slightly reduced water pressure on Thursday, county officials said.

The county asks that affected residents call (678) 376-7000 to report brown water then open their outside spigots and run the water until it’s clear.
