Gwinnett to break ground on $2.24 million Centerville Senior Center

June 13, 2016

Gwinnett County will break ground Tuesday on its new $2.24 million Centerville Senior Center.

The 8,500-square-foot, single-story building will be on Bethany Church Road near Snellville. It will serve south Gwinnett residents 60 and older and will feature a dining room, a warming kitchen with serving line, a multi-purpose room, a billiards area and offices.

In April the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners awarded a contract to build the new center to Hogan Construction Group LLC. Money for the project comes from a 2014 special sales tax for construction projects.

Gwinnett operates senior centers in Buford, Lawrenceville and Norcross, and also at Bethesda Park and George Pierce Park. A satellite senior center opened at the Centerville Community Center in 2013.
