Lithonia's smallest residents have already discovered the new play area at the park bearing the town's name, but the official grand opening is Monday.

The new additions at Lithonia Park include a three-story play structure, seesaws and more all built on top of a bright blue rubber base. The $365,000 project was paid for using SPLOST funds, plus additional money from accounts controlled by county commissioners Mereda Davis Johnson and Lorraine Cochran-Johnson.

Mayor Deborah Jackson and Dennis Allen, president of the Friends of Lithonia Park support group, will also be in attendance at the ribbon-cutting.

The grand opening will be held July 15 at 11 a.m. at the park, located at 2501 Park Drive. There be food and prizes for children.15 great parks for kids in DeKalb County
