DeKalb News: Stonecrest council approves plan for pothole repairs
The Stonecrest City Council has agreed to move forward with an analysis of the city's roads to identify where repairs are most needed.
The digital study is expected to cost about $71,000 and will rank all 283 miles of streets within the southwest DeKalb city from worst to best.
“The road analysis company will be able to rate the damage on your streets and identify the most cost-effective way to spend your repair dollars,” City Engineer Ken Hildebrandt said, according to a news release.
Once a digital study is complete, Stonecrest leaders expect to use a state Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant to fun the repairs. This requires a local match, either through general fund dollars or revenue from the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
The total available for Stonecrest roads will be $1.2 million.
