DeKalb residents who find it difficult to attend most county commission meetings have an evening option for tonight.

The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. in Stonecrest, where they will receive a transportation briefing from MARTA and discuss mid-year budget adjustments that CEO Michael Thurmond is recommending. Audience members can also to sign up to speak during the public comment portion of the meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

Usually, these “committee of the whole” meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. in downtown Decatur. The commission’s business meetings  where votes are taken are held at the same time and location on second and fourth Tuesdays.

Roughly once a quarter, the commission moves a “committee of the whole” meeting to the evening and in various locations around the county to allow for more public access.

Tonight’s meeting will be held at Stonecrest's City Hall at 3120 Stonecrest Blvd.
