Clayton commissioner Rooks to give free books at Saturday meeting

Commissioner Shana Rooks will be giving away free children’s books at her “First Saturday Talk ” this Saturday at the South Clayton Recreation Center, 1837 McDonough Rd. in Hampton. The event is from 10 a.m. to noon. The book giveaway is a new initiative called “Reading to Succeed!” It is aimed at getting more parents to read to their children. She will give children’s book to the first 50 people who sign up and commit to reading 50 books to a young child.
