Lawrenceville police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 21-year-old pedestrian.

Officers responded to the scene of the accident on the Ga. 316 exit ramp to Collins Hill Road in Gwinnett County around 1 a.m. Wednesday, Lawrenceville police said in a news release. Frances Megland, of Lawrenceville, was found there with critical injuries. The car that stuck Megland was nowhere to be found.

“Responding officers began assessing Megland’s condition and established an airway,” police said. Gwinnett Fire arrived and took over Megland’s treatment, taking him to Northside Gwinnett Hospital. Once at the hospital, Megland succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation into the hit-and-run crash remains under investigation, police said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Sgt. D. Haney at dhaney@lawrencevillepd.com or 770-670-5061.
