Inmate found dead at Fulton County Jail
An inmate died early Sunday inside his cell at the Fulton County Jail, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.
Fulton County sheriff’s spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan said the inmate was alone in the cell when he was discovered unresponsive by deputies shortly before 5 a.m. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“Staff notified the Atlanta Police Department to investigate, which is standard protocol,” Flanagan said.
The name of the inmate, who was in his 40s, was being withheld until relatives could be notified, she said.
