Inmate escapes while being transported through Cartersville

An inmate being transported through Georgia escaped from custody Wednesday night during a stop in Bartow County, according to police.

The man, whose name was not released, escaped in Cartersville. Deputies with the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office were assisting with the search for the inmate late Wednesday.
