High school marching bands join the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade includes high school marching bands from metro Atlanta and just outside Austin, Texas, along with six other high school marching bands.

The parade, televised on NBC, begins at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning.

The marching band of Harrison High School in Kennesaw is making its second appearance at the big Thanksgiving parade. The first was in 2009. The Harrison Hoyas were scheduled to rehearse at Metlife Stadium and its members also have a chance to see the sights of New York City during their trip, including a Broadway show. Read about the band's trip. UPDATE: See photos from the band in New York

Taking part in the parade from Pflugerville, Texas, is the Hendrickson High School Hawk Band. A total of 353 students and 59 adults with eight tour guides are among the Hendrickson delegation. Read more about Hendrickson High School.

Also participating is an all-star band of high school musicians, the Macy's Great American Marching Band. This band draws members from high schools across the United States under the leadership of Rick Good, director of bands at Auburn University.

In addition to the high school bands, the parade lineup includes the NYPD Marching Band, New York City. West Point's U.S. Military Academy Band and West Virginia University’s Mountaineer Marching Band, "The Pride of West Virginia, Morgantown, W.Va.

Joe. E. Newsome High School Wolfpack Marching Band, Lithia, Fla.  

Cary Senior High School Marching Band, Cary, N.C.   

Grain Valley High School Marching Eagles, Grain Valley, Mo., near Kansas City.
