Hall County Sheriff’s Office will lead a procession Wednesday for Lt. Stephanie Hollingsworth, who died in a car crash on Sept. 20, authorities said.

The procession starts at 12:45 p.m. on Browns Bridge Road between Memorial Park Drive and McEver Road in Gainesville, according to a Facebook post by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. The route will travel southbound to Free Chapel on McEver Road, where services for Hollingsworth will start at 2 p.m.

According to the GSP, Hollingsworth, 52, died on the scene after a 1994 Ford Ranger hit the officer’s Subaru Forester in a head-on collision on Ga. 11 near Green Circle around 7 p.m. The incident also injured Hollingsworth’s husband, Tony Hollingsworth, 62, of Gainesville.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Sgt. Auston Allen said all passengers were wearing seat belts, and neither alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.

Hollingsworth was a 31-year veteran of the agency, according to the sheriff’s office. She started her career at the sheriff’s office in 1989 as a secretary, and earned the rank of lieutenant in 2008. She received sheriff’s commendations in 2014 and 2019.
