Gwinnett to open new middle school

In less than three weeks, about 1,000 Gwinnett County students will come to class for the first time at the district’s newest middle school.

A former Panasonic electronics warehouse, Northbrook Middle School has computer labs for each grade level, a spacious athletics field, a media center filled with books and DVDs and many other elements officials hope students will enjoy and help them excel academically. Classes start Aug. 5.

Located in the Peachtree Ridge Cluster, students from Jackson Elementary will feed into the new school.

Principal Keith D. Thompson recently gave The Atlanta Journal-Constitution a tour of the new school.
