Gwinnett County school board members have named Nicole Tubbs the new principal of Berkmar Middle School.

Tubbs replaces Jose DeJesus, who took a position in a school system in another state, district officials said.

Tubbs was the assistant principal at Peachtree Ridge High School. She joined the Gwinnett district in 1996 as a social studies teacher at Summerour Middle School.

Berkmar Middle School has about 1,100 students.
