Eleven Gwinnett County middle schools were among the state’s top 25 performers on the Grade 8 state writing test, the district announced Monday. This is based on a comparison of the percentage of students scoring in the “exceeds” category, the highest rating for test-takers. The county’s Obsborne Middle School was the highest ranking middle school in the state with 33.4 percent of its test-takers performing in the exceeds category. Other schools in the county that were among the top performers were: Twin Rivers Middle with 24.8 percent in the exceeds category; McConnell Middle with 22.1 percent; North Gwinnett with 21.3 percent; Couch Middle with 21.2 percent; Pinckneyville with 20 percent; Trickum Middle with 20 percent; Berkmar Middle with 18.5 percent; Jones Middle with 18 percent; Crews Middle with 17.9 percent; Creekland Middle with 17.8 percent;
