Today, Feb. 13 became Galentine’s Day thanks to the fictional character Leslie Knope, played by Amy Poehler, on “Parks and Recreation,” making it so during an episode in 2010. Ever since her excitement about celebrating friends a day prior to celebrating your love, besties have been gathering to celebrate their friendships with food, drinks and a good time.
“Every Feb. 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style,” Knope said in the classic episode.
