Friday will be another beautiful spring day for North Georgia.

The season doesn’t officially start until the spring equinox next weekend, but that hasn’t stopped the weather from showing off. Sunshine, dry conditions and temperatures in the 70s have been the case all week, and Friday will be no different.

“If you can spend the time outside, it’s going to be beautiful today, and tomorrow, and Sunday, too,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said. “We’re going to get up near 80 degrees across North Georgia.”

Friday’s projected high is 77 degrees, which is more typical of a May afternoon, according to Channel 2.

North Georgia can thank an area of high pressure for its good fortune this week. Monahan said the high will “hold on tight” through the weekend, allowing only a slight chance of showers Saturday and Sunday.

But all good things must come to an end. Once the high weakens, rain returns to the forecast Monday.

“We’re going to start the day fairly dry Monday, but as the afternoon wears on the showers are going to build in,” Monahan said. “Tuesday and Wednesday could be on the wet side, too.”
