Friday should be nice and dry with temperatures in the mid-60s and the addition of a few more clouds in the afternoon, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon.
Those clouds will act as a bit on an insulator, Deon said, making for a mild Friday evening. Temperatures should still be in the mid-50s around 8 p.m. in metro Atlanta.
“That is our average high temperature for this time of year,” Deon said. “Nice as we head into the weekend.”
North Georgia just has to make it through another chilly start first. Temperatures are in the 30s in the mountains and low 40s in the city to begin the day. Atlanta’s projected high is 66 degrees, more than 10 degrees above the average high temperature.
“We’re going to see clouds starting to increase late in the afternoon,” Deon said. “It will still be nice and bright. We’re looking good really throughout most of the day.”
While the clouds will mean milder weather Friday, they will bring rain Saturday, she said. A cold front moving toward North Georgia is expected to trigger showers for the weekend.
“We’re going to see some light rain showers early, more widespread rain in the evening,” Deon said of Saturday’s forecast. “Clouds are going to stick around early in the day on Sunday before some clearing, and then another round of rain, possibly heavy at times, moves in for overnight Sunday going into Monday.”
Deon said it will not rain all weekend. Showers are 40% likely Saturday and 20% likely Sunday, according to Channel 2.

There are no early delays Friday on metro Atlanta interstates, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
Things are still “in the green” on northbound I-75 and I-85 heading to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport from the southern suburbs, traffic reporter Mark Arum said. He expects heavier-than-normal traffic on I-75 through Henry County for the evening drive.
“Right now its 71 mph heading northbound,” Arum said just before 6 a.m. “Southbound delays are going to get heaviest this afternoon at 6 p.m.”
