Forsyth County deputies said they believe the burglary of a Cumming home Monday that resulted in the shooting of a woman was the third burglary committed by the same couple.

Authorities also said that the wounded woman, a 70-year-old whose name has not been released, will survive the shooting. They provided no other new details Tuesday.

The victim was rushed to a Gainesville hospital with three bullet wounds, including one to her stomach, Deputy Doug Rainwater previously said. She was also wounded in an arm and a leg.

The woman told police that she confronted two burglars — investigators believe they were a man and a woman — and exchanged gunfire at her home at Pilgrim Mill Road and Magnolia Avenue.

Investigators took samples of blood splatters in the house to determine if an intruder was also shot, Rainwater said.
