The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners holds a public hearing at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming, to talk about a possible change in the county’s alcohol ordinance.

The switch would reduce the setback requirement for watering holes licensed for on-premises consumption (whether beer, wine or distilled spirits) to 20 yards from schools and churches. Currently, those restaurants and other establishments must be at least 100 yards from the nearest church and 200 yards from various schools and school buildings, including some child-care centers.
