The driver of a work van was killed Monday afternoon when he crashed into the Center Way bridge while traveling southbound on I-85 in Gwinnett County.

The van left the road and struck the side of the bridge, an overpass with no entrances or exits onto the freeway, Gwinnett County police Cpl. Jake Smith said in an email.

There were no other occupants and no other vehicles were involved.

Four lanes of I-85 were shut down after the accident, but Channel 2 Action News reported shortly after 5 p.m. that all lanes had reopened southbound between Indian Trail and Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Center Way remained blocked over the interstate.
