This week’s nice weather trend is continuing Wednesday in North Georgia after another chilly start.

Just like Tuesday, the day is starting with temperatures in the 30s and 40s with a warm-up into the mid-60s, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan.

There will be a few more clouds today, but it’ll be mainly dry with only a 20% chance of showers.

It’ll be a different story Thursday. While temperatures will creep into the upper 60s, a severe weather threat is looming across much of the state as a cold front pushes a wave of storms to the east.

“That includes all of North Georgia, from the mountains through metro Atlanta and down through the southside, so tomorrow is going to be a day to be weather aware,” Monahan said. “These storms are going to be timed for bus stop time coming home from school, coming home from work tomorrow. So could be a little tricky tomorrow.”

Damaging wind gusts and heavy rain are the main risks, but a brief spin-up tornado is possible, he said.

Temperatures will fall Friday once the line of storms passes, with highs staying in the 40s and mid-50s for the weekend and lows dipping into the 30s.
